Annie Boland
Thursday 16th April 2009

It was with great sadness the club heard of the passing of Annie Boland on Thursday 16th April. Annie, a long time Opry member and sister of club Vice President Patsy, was receiving treatment in Hospital but sadly lost her battle against her illness. She was a great Randy Travis and Willie Nelson fan and was frequently heard to request their songs from Rowdy, our club DJ. Many of you will remember Annie from her regular seat opposite the foot of the stairs as you entered the club. She will be greatly missed.

Forthcoming Event - Kings and Queens of Country
Sunday 3rd May 2009
Join us for a Fundraising evening of singing and dancing with the singing talents of Scott (Elvis) McGuinness and Sue Roberts. Scott's girlfriend Shirley's brother is wheelchair bound and the event is to help raise funds for decking to allow him easier access to his home. A very worthy cause and only £5 for what should be an excellent evening's entertainment.

Jive Night with Wildkats
Sunday 12th April 2009
Another Rock'n'Roll treat for jive and rockabilly fans with Wildkats, their first appearance in Scotland. Well done again to Ray and Nicky of Rock Til U Drop for arranging another great night at the Opry.

Sticky Fingers
Thursday 9th April 2009
A treat for rock fans young and old - excellent entertainment from Scotland's tribute to the Rolling Stones which had the dance floor rockin' from the start. Preceded by a fine country set from City Sinners - watch out for them at the Opry again soon!

Fun Line Dance Event with Carson City
Sunday 1st March 2009
Another very well attended and busy day for the line dancers with a full day event with Carson City who played both old and new, a Rep Ghazali  workshop, plus tracks and requests from Gordybob of Dreamcatcher promotions. Rep (pictured on the right) raised £91 for Alzheimers from sale of CDs and scripts.

Line Dancing with Calico
Thursday 26th February 2009
An excellent turnout and a great atmosphere for this popular trio who kept the dancers happy all night with their excellent covers of all the latest line dance favourites, with the breaks neatly linked together by Heather and Steve of the Bootleggers disco.

New Bands
Thursdays and Sundays
As you are probably aware the club is usually closed on Thursdays and Sundays apart from occasional bookings for Charity events, Private Functions, etc. We have decided to try and fill these gaps in the Calendar with bands who play different types of music - Rock, Blues, Bluegrass, Irish, Cajun, Folk, etc - great news for all you music lovers. The first booking on Sunday 22nd February is The Vagabonds (see below) who play Rock, Country, etc. The Vagabonds are one of Glasgow's favourite bands and recently played Carling Academy. Watch scanner in club or the Calendar page for future bookings/events.
